Academic Program and Systematic Curriculum
At JPC, we believe that a rigorous academic program combined with a supportive social-emotional program leads to student success.
Our academic program reflects practices associated with high-performing schools: more time on task, standards-based instruction, regular assessments with ongoing feedback and opportunities for enrichment.
Learning at JPC is fundamental to our culture; our learning programs promote progressive and continuous learning and achievement.
Our commitment to cultivating our creative learning culture is underpinned by three aspects: Opportunity, Capability and Environment. With a focus on creating the best opportunities for all students we ensure learning programs are developed from content established by the Australian Curriculum, carefully curated with appropriate resourcing to ensure our students' capability to learn effectively is maximised. Our teachers and leaders model learning, providing encouragement to work through challenges, creating the environment and conditions in our classrooms for students to learn by doing through practice and application, pursuing and practicing new skills.
A strengths-based approach is used to recognise, value and build on students' existing knowledge and skills. Students learn best when their diversity is respected and they are provided with relevant support, opportunities and experiences, ensuring the interests, abilities and culture of every student and their family are understood, valued and respected.
Assessment processes are aligned with the curriculum and are designed to clarify learning intentions, establish where individual students are in their learning, diagnose details of student learning and to monitor learning progress across the years of school.
Extensive Learning Pathways
Our comprehensive range of subject offerings available from Year Seven through to Year Twelve offers all students opportunities to find their passions and ignite success.
In the Secondary School, six faculties provide developmentally sequenced courses for students to be introduced in Year Seven to discipline-based learning where they will learn how to work like a scientist, mathematician, or a historian...
From Year Eight, our students have an opportunity to select courses that develop their knowledge, understanding and skills in each area as they determine their specialist areas of study.
Across our Secondary School, students have a wide range of courses to choose from ensuring that our program delivers extensive learning pathway options for all.
