Three talented JPC cricketers make elite Lord Taverners Cricket Squad
Three JPC cricket superstars have been named in the prestigious Lord's Taverners Cricket Squads for 2020, carving a pathway for a future elite status in Queensland Cricket.
Will Aspeling (Year Ten) from Wynnum Cricket Club, Caden Careswell (Year Nine) from Gold Coast Dolphins Cricket Club and Balian Herd (Year Nine) from Toombul Cricket Club are the JPC cricket superstars making waves on the cricket pitch. The Lord's Taverners competition provides a clear pathway for players between junior community cricket and senior premier grade competitions and is run in direct partnership with Queensland Cricket. Players are scouted from affiliate community clubs to participate and compete at a higher level.
The newly introduced Cricket Academy program at JPC aims to develop a new generation of professional athletes ready to compete at an elite level. It is an inclusive elite-habit focussed training environment created to encourage the best performance from all athletes. The inclusive Sport Academies at JPC include Basketball, Cricket, Netball and Volleyball.
Mr Mark Zietsch, Deputy Principal – Operations at JPC, wishes the boys the best of luck as they embark on the start of their professional cricketing careers.
'The athleticism and professionalism these three boys possess is second to none. We are excited to see our students pursuing their dreams and talents in an elite sporting competition such as Lord Taverners. What an amazing achievement' praised Mr Zietsch.
'We hope our newly introduced Sport Academies will prepare athletes for their progression into Queensland and Australian sporting pathways, with an emphasis on the advancement of skills, physicality, leadership and game sense.' says Mr Zietsch.
Principal Mrs Karen Spiller OAM CF was pleased to see so many of our JPC students on the sporting field representing at a high level.
