    8.1 School-based activities

There are many opportunities for parents to participate in their children's education apart from regular classroom assistance. Our College calendar outlines such activities as parent/teacher meetings, family nights, sporting carnivals, cultural events and performances, etc. During the year, parents will be advised when these opportunities occur to enable them to participate in the college community's full academic and social life.

    8.2 Parents' and Friends Association

The aim of the Parents' and Friends' Association and all the sub-committees is to lend support to the College Administration in its endeavour to provide the best educational outcomes for your children. All parents are encouraged to attend meetings of the Parents' and Friends' Association. The input of parents at such meetings is regarded as essential.

The major Parents' and Friends' Association fundraising activity is Mayfair.

    8.3 Friends of Groups

'Friends of' groups operate and support a number of the co-curricular activities within the College. They assist with raising funds and co-ordinating events associated with sports teams and SOPA groups. Any parent is welcome to attend their meetings.

Contact the Sports and Activities or School of Performing Arts Office for further details.

A Friends of Primary Group supports specific initiatives within the Primary School.

Parents have the opportunity to socialise and establish connections through the Parent Prayer Network - please contact the Chaplain, for further details via phone on 07 3826 3343.

    8.4 Primary School Class Representatives

We encourage parents to connect to build a strong College community and we establish, maintain and support a system of Year Level Parent Representatives to facilitate this socialisation.

Year Level Representatives help facilitate communication between parents for:

    • carpooling for College and co-curricular runs
    • organising get-togethers for children outside of College time
    • staying informed on social issues for your older kids
    • helping new families feel welcome
    • liaising with the Head of Primary School and Dean of Academic Welfare to increase ways that staff can assist with and benefit from parent engagement and create structured information evenings to foster parent engagement.

Before assisting with classroom or College activities, volunteers must undertake induction. These sessions are held regularly. (See Volunteer Management)
